Public Libraries week hits PS


Ontario Public Library Week, October 20th to 24th, is special for Parry Sound this year. Parry Sound Public Library is celebrating its centennial this year. The celebration begins with the announcement of the Centennial Book Collection donation program and the unveiling of the Dorothy Jukes Memorial Plaque at 4pm on the 20th.

The next day, at 7pm, Dave Thomas's 404th slide show, "Parry Sound 1860-1900" will be the feature. Admission is free but the space is limited, so get your ticket early at the Library. Refreshments will be served after the program.

Mayor Will Sabourin will personally check out your library books on Thursday, October 22nd between 2:30 and 3:30pm. There will be a used book sale at the mall, Friday, Oct. 24 from 10am – 2pm.

Saturday, October 24th at 4:30pm, the winning ticket for "Fine Dining in Rainbow Country" will be drawn.

Historical photos and documents will be on display all week and the whole week will be an Amnesty Week at the library. There will be no fines for returning overdue books.

Design a bookmark for the library's centennial, entry forms are available at the front counter.

During the week there will be free draws and other attractions.

Come out and show the library and its staff how much you appreciate them.
