Just 4 Min. off Highway 69
One Hour North of Parry Sound

The Lonely Planet

Britt is a peaceful, tiny place bypassed by almost everyone driving up or down Hwy 69 between Parry Sound and Killarney. Its history is as a sawmill town, but in more recent years its stand-out country inn, the Little Britt Inn (705-383-0028, 888-383-4555; www.zeuter.com/lilbritt; Hwy 526; r$105-$125), has built a reputation among foodies who are prepared to travel to far-flung places for regional food. Not that it's an earnest grain-fed-everything sort of place 'the kids' menu in the more casual downstairs restaurant features fried liver with onions, broccoli and green olives, priced according to the noisiness of the kids. Upstairs game is a specialty, and the seasonal menu might include smoked duck breast ($19) or bacon wrapped elk tenderloin ($23). The inn has just four very spacious rooms, and the whole place has water views.
In laid-back Britt activities are an afterthought to eating and reclining, but you can take a very exclusive little boat tour on Georgian Bay with Barron Tours (705-383-0448). Cruise wherever you like with up to five other people for around $75 per hour (not per person).
Britt is about 70km north of Parry Sound and 5km west of Hwy 69.
