I found out about PS mostly through the web (this site helped a lot!), so I finally decided to visit for a couple of days after Thanksgiving. I loved it! I am a sailor, so I enjoyed checking out Sound Boatworks Marina. Had great meals at Drew's and Wellington, and loved the fitness trail and all the surrounding wilderness. Everyone I met were friendly and helpful, but I couldn't get all my questions answered in two days, so hopefully someone will correspond with me in the meantime!
I am hoping to ditch the city life permanently, and move to PS with my 11-yr old son this coming spring. I'd ideally like to open a small business and take advantage of the summer tourism, but wanted to know more about business opportunities, work, what would go well there with the local community, what is needed... If anyone would like to give me sound advice, it would be greatly appreciated!

Parry Sound is very much like New England in appearance....and, the more frequently I go there, I have discovered people who are as goodhearted as my home town. Your shops are fun to go through, and I love the antique/treasures at Aitken's Place.

As a teen, we lived about 20 mi. south of Parry Hoot (world famous home of Bobby Orr). My folks owned a motel on 69, and I dreaded the long daily drive on the bus to school with the MacTier crazies. The cold froze my nose, and the plows piled the snow higher than you could see, while knocking over everyone's mailboxes. We shovelled the drifts off our roofs constantly, to prevent them from falling in. But it was a place of wonder too. A trek into the endless woods out back opened our eyes to the raw beauty of many a pristine, natural setting. Fresh streams amid a total wilderness, should you venture beyond our twenty-four acres out back. Woods and lakes unspoiled, and wild creatures of many sorts. We fished there too. Brown trout and rainbow, bass, pike and popular smelt streams too. A natural abundance of nature, sparse in humanity. As a youth my unbridled imagination ran wild contemplating many wonderful possibilities. My friend had a "beetle", and we used to cruise about in summer partying and living kinda wild. School was, ya know, ok I guess. I used to look forward to lunch so I could dash out of the doors of PSHS, over to Modern Billiards across the street and down from the "Town and Country". Got quite good at playing pool too.(not bad on pinball machine too). Friends and I cut class once in a while to escape downtown and tour about. We weren"t really bad, just bored and wanting a little excitement. I recall once missing the last Greyhound and having to walk the 20 miles , through the night home with a friend who lived near. We talked and talked about many huge issues in those days. Everything from how the universe got started to how our junior sibs were getting on. We were bored yes, the plague of teens, but we found our fun in those days too. That was long ago for me, but my times living outside Parry Sound all served to form who I am, and I suppose I wouldn't trade 'em either.

Hi I was looking up the People In Motion Exposition when I tripped over Zeuter's entry.
I will be spending a lot more time in it, trying to move ahead from profiles, homepages and disucssions for disabled persons - cerebral palsy, Hirschoprung's Disease, Colorectal Cancer, Brain Cancer and Griefnet, re the loss of three children and two spouses since 1973.
I want to become comfortable publishing personal web pages, issue related web pages and business releated web pages asap.
I went from mainfrane computers in the federal government (1965 - 1987) to a 286, 386, 486 DX and since October, 2000, a Pentrium III, 650 MZ. I have been searching long and hard for the sort of training that you are offering.I will be back with you tomorrow to get started, weather permission because right now they are calling for a thunder storm.
I have a lot of learning to do with reference to the operation of this machine, as well as finding my way around the internet.

I heard about this sight from my cousin Hoby and I have found at least ten people I will be emailing soon. Even found someone who was looking for me. I hope to hear from some people.
